Actress and advocate for sarcoma awareness Peri Gilpin opened up to us about her mother’s battle with Leiomyosarcoma and her experience with Wendy Walk. How did you first become aware of sarcoma cancer? I am not sure… I learned that my mother had cancer in November of 1983 a couple of days before her 42nd birthday. The 4th annual Swing & Strut for Sarcoma in honor of Mickey Stachel, who passed away from sarcoma in 2012, surpassed 100 participants for the first time in the event’s history. Every year this event serves as a means to raise awareness of sarcoma and funds for research of this rare, aggressive form of cancer. It’s also a celebration of Mickey – his kindness, humor, generosity, and caring nature. This year the Swing & Strut for Sarcoma raised over $11,000.
