The 4th annual Swing & Strut for Sarcoma in honor of Mickey Stachel, who passed away from sarcoma in 2012, surpassed 100 participants for the first time in the event’s history. Every year this event serves as a means to raise awareness of sarcoma and funds for research of this rare, aggressive form of cancer. More than 1,000 individuals – including patients and survivors – gathered in Miami, New York, and Los Angeles to raise awareness of sarcoma and funds to support research to find a cure for this rare, aggressive form of cancer that impacted the life of Wendy Landes. The Wendy Walk Foundation has raised over $3.65 million to date. From coast to coast, togetherness was a prevalent theme at each of this year’s Wendy Walks. In Miami Beach, Dr. Jonathan Trent, Director of the Sarcoma Medical Research Program at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of Miami delivered our keynote address. Wendy Walk is an official charity partner of the Los Angeles Marathon on February 14th, 2016. We also have a 5K team running in the LA Big 5K on February 13th, 2016. On September 20th people from all over the country came out to show their support for Wendy Walk! Hikers took a beautiful loop in Park City, spinners got their Soul Cycle on in San Francisco and the Greek system at the University of Miami had a special relay day just for Wendy Walk.
