Many people have never heard of sarcoma, with less than 20,000 new diagnoses occurring each year. Sarcoma is a rare form of cancer that develops in the cells of soft tissue or bones. The majority of sarcomas are found in soft tissue—including fat, muscles, nerves, tendons, and blood and lymph vessels. Overall, there are over 70 different types of sarcoma that all behave differently, which can make this disease difficult to treat.
