Ways to Support Loved Ones with Cancer This Holiday Season
The reason I am writing to you about this today- some 30 years after my cancer experience, is that I've met so many other teens/young adults like me who tried their best to be in the holiday spirit. I've compiled a list of my younger self wished she had for those who wanted to help but didn't know how to ask.
Holiday Party Tips for Cancer Patients
During my sarcoma treatment, I had to go out of my way to avoid small children and anyone who looked like they might have a cold at holiday events. Even now that I've completed sarcoma treatment, I have to avoid a long list of vegetables and all dairy products. But along the way I've learned how to get by during the holidays. Here are my tips for cancer patients and survivors on staying healthy during the holidays. Try them, and you might start some fun new traditions at the same time.
Meet Debi Grilo
Naively I never imagined that one of my children would get cancer. So when my daughter, Annaleigh, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at age 16, it hit me like a ton of bricks. Simultaneously I went into full action and anxiety mode. It took weeks to wrap my head around this new reality and there was no time to waste in terms of getting her the care and treatment she needed.

He enjoys bike rides with his friends using an recumbent bicycle. He hunts with a lightweight rifle. And he rides a horse with slightly less than perfect balance, he says.
